Dr. Seth Custer has been selected by SCMTA for his composition as Ever Soaring, Ever Singing for violin, alto saxophone and piano. Dr. Custer wrote in his proposal that the work will feature the bird song of the Carolina Wren, which is the state bird. The rhythms and melodic contour found in this bird’s call would make for a neat piece, and would be an excellent way to celebrate the heritage of our state. The composition will be premiered online for the SCMTA State Conference on November 6-7, 2020.
Dr. Seth Andrew Custer is currently Associate Professor in the Division of Music at Bob Jones University. He holds a PhD from the University of Iowa, a MM from Central Michigan University, and a BM, summa cum laude, from the University of North Dakota.
