Membership in SCMTA is open to all individuals professionally engaged in any field of music activity who are also members of Music Teachers National Association.
Individual membership year begins July 1 and ends June 30. Student membership year begins October 1 and ends September 30.
Membership Categories
- Active Members participate in all Association activities and programs, may vote, hold office, and receive publications, including SCMTA NewsNotes and the American Music Teacher, the official journal of MTNA.
- Senior Members (age 70 or over who have maintained MTNA membership for a minimum of five years) have all the benefits of Active Members.
- Student Members (full-time college students currently involved in music study who are members of an affiliated association) may attend programs, receive publications, and enter students in SCMTA auditions, but may not vote, hold office, or enter students in MTNA competions.
SCMTA members also enjoy numerous MTNA benefits and services.

Dues
State and national dues(as well as local association dues if applicable) are paid directly to MTNA. New members can join at all three levels (local, state, and national) in one process.
