Composers with connections to South Carolina are invited to apply for the South Carolina Music
Teachers Association 2024 Commissioned Composer Award.
The composer selected will receive a $1500 cash prize ($750 from SCMTA matched by MTNA), and the piece will be advanced to eligibility for the MTNA Distinguished Composer of the Year ($5000 award). The piece will have a premiere performance at the SCMTA 2024 conference (October 31 – November 2 Furman University).
The deadline for the application is April 5, 2024. The deadline for the completed composition is October 1, 2024.
